THE HOLY ROMAN ...
Benedict XVI's calendar for the remainder of 2006 includes two trips - one in Italy and one to Turkey - and a full Christmas agenda.
The most important social project for the consecrated members of the Church is to belong totally to God, says the president of the Pontifical Council for Justice and Peace. He said this at the closing statement of a congress in Rome on "Consecrated Life and Social Doctrine: Itineraries of Formation."
Here is the address delivered Monday by Archbishop Celestino Migliore, the Holy See's permanent observer to the United Nations, before the plenary of the U.N. General Assembly on measures to eliminate international terrorism.
... EMPIRE OF THE GERMAN NATION
A member of the Christian Social Union called on the German parliament to boycott British Airways after the carrier suspended an employee for wearing a cross necklace and banned its staff from wearing Christian symbols.
[WAR: A great example of how the CSU is "holy" and loyal to the Whore and her social doctrines.]
The marriage between Germany's left and right is showing troubling cracks less than a year after the champagne launch of the most ambitious experiment in current European politics. The squabble [over health service reforms] exposed deep divisions within the conservative ranks, especially among powerful CDU and CSU figures who head regional states.
Chancellor Angela Merkel's Cabinet met on Wednesday to discuss Germany's goals for its chairmanship of the Group of Eight next year, with oil markets, climate change and development in Africa expected to be among key issues.
Günter Verheugen is facing mounting criticism after a German newsmagazine published a picture of him hand-in-hand with the head of his Brussels cabinet during a holiday on the Baltic coast. "Her expertise was not the only factor in Erler's appointment," said Markus Ferber (CSU), a member of the European Parliament.
German politicians are debating poverty in a country where some 6.5 million people feel they are increasingly left behind in society, a new underclass that may undermine the stability of any government, observers say.
EUROPE/RUSSIA
Britain yesterday gave its strongest indication that it regards the European constitution as dead when Margaret Beckett declared that the "grandiose project" had failed. In remarks which went beyond Tony Blair's carefully crafted comments on the constitution, the foreign secretary made clear that she would not sanction any attempt to revive the measure in its present form.
[WAR: Sure Merkel may try to revive it, but it will not work. So when this fails, Germany will abandon "Europe" and seek instead to revive the HRE that's been in a coma (in Bavaria) for the last 200 years.]
European foreign ministers, laying the groundwork for an EU summit with Russian President Vladimir Putin this week, faced a tough balancing act on Tuesday in addressing concerns over Moscows dispute with Georgia.
"Russia is not reacting to the targetting of Iran or North Korea, but to the targetting of Russiaand China. On the provoking and targetting of Iran and North Korea, Russia is being very low-key. But on the targetting of Russia, not so. They are taking countermeasures against the real threat of embargo. It needs to be emphasized: Bush and Cheney are headed toward World War III, in some form. The signals of that are clear. But, unfortunately, most in the Congress are playing along, and pretending they don't see them."
MIDEAST/AFRICA/ASIA
Italy's upper house of Parliament on Tuesday approved the country's peacekeeping commitment in southern Lebanon, the last parliamentary hurdle before the president signs the decree.
For the past several months, I've been wrapping up lengthy interviews with U.S. counterterrorism officials with a fundamental question: "Do you know the difference between a Sunni and a Shiite?" But as I keep asking it, I get more and more blank stares. Too many counterterrorism officials simply don't care to learn much, if anything, about the enemy America is fighting.
POUNDING PERSIA
The European Union, spurred by North Korea's nuclear test, backed limited United Nations sanctions against Iran's nuclear program on Tuesday after Tehran spurned conditions for opening negotiations.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov on Wednesday said international action over Tehran's nuclear program must be in proportion to the real situation in Iran, which he added does not appear to include a threat to peace and security.
HOUSE OF ISRAEL
Many conservatives, especially religious conservatives, are expecting the rise of a "New World Order" or some sort of one-world government. Some pessimistic religious conservatives and libertarians believe such an event is ordained to occur based on Bible prophecy. Whatever these prophetic texts do mean, they probably aren't referring to the European Union taking over the world. Besides, are we seriously supposed to believe that the oh-so dangerous EU is going to be the vehicle for a totalitarian one-world leader? Are we truly in danger of seeing one any time soon? Most likely the answer is no.
[WAR: The true answer is "Hell no!" The Paranoid Protestant Prophecy Propagandists - and unfortunately most COG ministers - have it all wrong about the EU and NWO. These entities are very-soon to disappear, to be followed by the resurrected Holy Roman Empire - which has not existed since 1806 when it received its "mortal" wound by Napoleon the Israelite.]
ECONOMY
The dollar fell the most against the yen in two weeks after Russia's central bank said it was adding the Japanese currency to its foreign-exchange reserves.
On Oct. 6, U.S. Federal Reserve Board chairman Ben Bernanke warned that the U.S. housing market was presently undergoing a "substantial correction," which would be "going into next year as well." This minuscule acknowledgement of the slightest glimmer of reality was too much for certain financial circles.
In the global conflict for wealth, Asia is on the attack using brutal methods. Working conditions are appalling and industry is destroying the environment. Asia's rise is the fall of the West. That is, unless the West can overcome its scruples and defend its interests.
The pantheon of anti-capitalistic and authoritarian systems of political economy contains many varied members. One such variety of "non-capitalism" is Distributism.

[WAR: Hmmm ... Every article about this subject that I tried to access - including from Drudge Report, CNN, London Times, AP, and a Google search - was "inaccessable". And on each attempt, Norton would pop-up with a security-alert warning about an attempted intrusion from "BD Blade Runner 0.80a". Who is stopping me from reading these, and why?!]
